About Our Church

We are a local Free Will Baptist Church dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Located in Martinsville, Virginia, we seek to minister to our surrounding communities as well as reach across the world.

Our Beliefs

Our Basic Beliefs

We believe the Bible to be the Word of God and we hold to the doctrines of the Trinity, salvation by trusting in Jesus Christ, repentance from sin, and that Christians are to live lives separate from conformities to this world. We believe in missions, Christian education, the ordinances of the Lord’s Supper, baptism, washing of the saint’s feet, Spirit-filled lives (not charismatic) that result in witnessing to men about Christ, eternal Hell, and Heaven, and all else the Bible teaches.

Our Free Will Baptist Church Covenant

Having given ourselves to God by faith in Christ, and adopted the Word of God as our rule of faith and practice, we now give ourselves to one another be the Will of God in this solemn Covenant. We promise, by His Grace, to love and obey Him in all things, to avoid all appearance of evil, to abstain from all sinful amusements and unholy conformities to the world, from all sale and sanction of intoxicating beverages, and to “provide all things honest in the sign of all men.”

We agree to faithfully discharge our obligation in reference to the study of the Scriptures, family devotions, sector prayer, social worship; and by self-denial, faith and good works, endeavor to “grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together for church and conferences, public worship and all the observances of the ordinances of the Gospel; nor fail to pay according to our ability for the support of the church, of its poor and all its benevolent work. We agree to accept Christian admonition and reproof with meekness, and to watch over one another in love, endeavoring to “keep the unity of the Spirit” in the bond of peace. To be careful of one another’s happiness and reputation, and seek to strengthen the weak, encourage the afflicted, admonish the erring, and as far as we are able, promote the success of the church and the Gospel. We will everywhere hold Christian principle sacred and Christian obligations and enterprises supreme, counting it our chief business in life to extend the influence of Christ in society, constantly praying and toiling that the Kingdom of God may come, and His Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. To this end we agree to labor for the promotion of educational and denominational enterprises, support of missions, the success of Sunday schools, and evangelistic efforts for the salvation of the world. And may the God of peace sanctify us wholly and preserve us blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Plan of Salvation

The plan of salvation is a journey of FAITH that leads one to heaven. It begins with …

Forgiveness

Everyone has sinned and needs God’s forgiveness (Romans 3:23). God’s forgiveness is in Jesus only (Ephesians 1:7a).

Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Ephesians 1:7a, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins ….”

Available

God’s forgiveness is available for all (John 3:16), but His forgiveness is not automatic (Matthew 7:21a).

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Matthew 7:21a, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven ….”

Impossible

It is impossible for us to go to heaven on our own (Ephesians 2:8).

Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.”

Turn

“Turn” means repent, change directions. To turn means to turn from something … sin and self (Luke 13:3b). It also means to turn to Someone … trust Christ only (John 14:6). And here is the greatest news of all … (Romans 10:9).

Luke 13:3b, “… ye shall all likewise perish”

John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Heaven

Heaven is a place where we will be with God forever (John 14:3). Eternal life begins now with Jesus (John 10:10b).

John 14:3, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

John 10:10b, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

To have the forgiveness of sins and a home in heaven, you must place your FAITH in Jesus Christ alone! Follow this simple prayer asking Jesus to save you.

“Dear Lord Jesus: I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and that You arose from the grave. I now ask you to forgive me of my sins and to save my soul. Amen.”

If you have placed your FAITH in Jesus Christ as personal savior, you need to be in a local church where you can express your faith and where you can get involved in the work of Christ. We very much want to hear of your faith in Christ, and we want to minister to you as a local congregation.
